about

These audio recordings accompany the book Walk This Way, which explains thoroughly how to write and improvise walking bass line
accompaniments on guitar, as in the style of Joe Pass, Tuck Andress, Martin Taylor and others.

It systematically breaks down the elements — choice of notes, chord voicings and rhythms etc
and includes examples & pieces which are similar to jazz standards and typical jazz chord sequences.
Together these should give you an overview, ideas and an approach to build on and create your own lines.
You will develop the mobility to play around common chord sequences easily and at speed.
Buy the pdf from zylrrecords.com or Kindle book from Amazon

These accompanying audio pieces can be used with the book to clarify timing and feel. They can also be used as a backing track to improvise solos over.

Des Reid's first instrument is the bass, as played with his groove-jazz band Step It Up. Check out their tunes on all the streaming services. Definitely bass-driven.
His other love, for solo jazz guitar, fed his obsession with combining bass lines & chords. Especially once he saw Joe Pass & Tuck Andress live.
He documented his own studies of bass-line comping for this book & it became popular with jazz guitar teachers & students everywhere. Its' pieces were used as Australian Music Examinations Board material for their Jazz Guitar Grade 7 exam.
You can hear it on his originals, such as Seeya Later on his live, Laidback At the Hut Album.
